Case Study: Personal Branding

The Story — behind my personal branding

After spending a considerable amount of time working in digital design, I have come to the decision that it is time to establish my own personal branding. I believe that my experience and the quality of my work deserve a magical touch that reflects my skills and becomes a source of pride for my clients. However, creating a logo and identity that stand out is no easy task, particularly when you aim to showcase your skill level and values through exceptional visuals.

Consequently, I devoted a significant amount of time to brainstorming and constructing multiple mood boards with several drafts, each featuring remarkable logos and designs. However, I eventually realized that none of them truly reflected the core of who I am.

While they were aesthetically pleasing designs, they lacked genuine relevance to who I am. This realization led me to understand the importance of defining the objectives of this project and creating a clear picture of the core identity that I want to convey.

With that being said, I have made the decision to return to my roots and delve deep into what has propelled me to my current position.

As an Egyptian, I take great pride in my heritage, and it has become clear to me that I must incorporate my cultural background and use the legacy of Ancient Egyptians. Hence, I am determined to present a modern execution that draws inspiration from their remarkable achievements, which continue to astonish the world to this very day.

The Idea

The plan is straightforward: I aim to incorporate my name or initials and combine them with an ancient, magical, and recognizable symbol.

And what better symbol to meet these specifications than the pyramids! The pyramid is not only the most iconic shape on Earth, but it is also universally known and recognized by people around the globe.

Surprisingly, I have yet to come across any remarkable execution that effectively represents the pyramid. Therefore, utilizing the pyramid as a key element in my design is a great opportunity to provide a unique and captivating visual representation.

Logo philosophy

The pyramids are really impressive and I’ve come across numerous intriguing theories explaining why my ancestors used the triangle shape as base design to the pyramid like: Allows weight to be distributed evenly throughout the structure, Each layer is built strong enough to hold the next layer that is built on top of it, the Great Pyramid of Khufu aligned the great monument to the cardinal points with an accuracy of better than four minutes of arc or one-fifteenth of one degree.

In the following steps, I will explain how I used the triangular shape of pyramid as foundation to my design execution…

Colors

I was deeply inspired by Apple’s use of black and white colors, with a focus on showcasing the hero product and eliminating any distractions or unnecessary elements.

Also, I’m still captured to the execution of presenting my self and my morals in my personal branding and since black and white represent various meanings to me such as truth, lies, Egyptian, African, and Arab, I have chosen these colors for my brand identity.

I love this quote:

I want to be known for what I am, black and white, because I am proud of both. To me, they symbolize the alternatives of hope and despair to which mankind is forever subjected.

Logo Facelift

I have used the above logo as my personal logo for the past three years. However, I am currently feeling a bit bored with it and believe it’s time to create a new execution that reflects the latest modern trends.

Recently, I came across the image below, which has sparked my inspiration, and I believe with a few small adjustments, it can be the perfect foundation for my new logo.
